Calle en Aurora Será Dedicada a Familia Hispana

¿Le interesa conocer un poco de la historia de los hispanos en Aurora? El 10 de julio a las 11:00a.m. la Ciudad de Aurora tendrá una ceremonia para dedicar la avenida Nila en memoria de la familia Nila. Fue allí, en lo que se conoce actualmente como la avenida Indian, donde vivieron Senobio Nila y su familia cuando inmigraron a Aurora. Al principio los Nila vivieron en vagones de la compañía de trenes, y luego pasaron a ocupar y ser propietarios de varias casas en lo que se conocerá como la avenida Nila. Ellos estuvieron entre los primeros inmigrantes hispanos de Aurora a principios del siglo 20 y sus descendientes aún viven en Aurora.

Are you interested in knowing about the history of Hispanics in Aurora? On July 10 at 11:00 a.m. the City of Aurora will have a ceremony to dedicate Nila Avenue in memory of the Nila family. It was there, in what is known as Indian Avenue, that Senobio Nila and his family lived when they came to Aurora. At the beginning the Nilas lived in boxcars from the train company, and then they went on to occupy and own various houses in what will be known as Nila Avenue. They were among Aurora's first Hispanic immigrants at the beginning of the 20th century and their descendants still live in Aurora.

Foro Comunitario de Inmigración y Ciudadanía

Habrá un foro comunitario sobre inmigración y ciudadanía en la Iglesia San Nicolás el sábado, 18 de julio de 9:00a.m. a 1:00p.m. El mismo servirá para que la gente se informe sobre sus derechos y dirija sus preguntas a las autoridades de Inmigración y otros expertos en el tema. World Relief Aurora y Aurora Cultural Center organizan el encuentro, que contará con presentadores de la Oficina de Servicios de Ciudadanía e Inmigración (CIS). Toda entrevista será estrictamente confidencial. La Iglesia San Nicolás está localizada en la calle High #308.

There will be a community forum on immigration and citizenship at St. Nicholas Church on Saturday, July 18 from 9:00a.m. to 1:00p.m. The purpose of the forum is so people can learn about their rights and ask questions of immigration authorities and other experts. World Relief Aurora and the Aurora Cultural Center are in charge of the event, which will have representatives from the Office of Citizenship and Immigration Services present. All interviews will be strictly confidential. St. Nicholas Church is located at 308 High Street.
